Unique
Decades of working with artists not only as a producer, but also a side man, has taught me to celebrate the unique qualities of an artist and their songs. When I produce a song, it is my goal to find and amplify those unique qualities.
Quality Recording
Amazing sounding recordings, excellent musicianship, and well-crafted songs with great arrangements are the elements of music that capture my spirit. Having come up in the days of tape and vinyl, I was fortunate to experience the discipline of studio recording. This knowledge, along with ever advancing new technologies, allows me to provide sonically stunning results. We are a Nashville Music Production service providing you with amazing results—even when compared to large, expensive recording facilities.
Diverse Palette
Playing with many bands in many different genres has given me a large palette of colors I can use to help other artists create their masterpieces. Starting my musical journey with clarinet and saxophone in grade school, then really becoming obsessed with music after receiving a guitar as a gift when I was 12, I began down a musical road that would teach and inspire me for the rest of my life. Formally studying jazz and classical music, but all the while playing in punk, funk, rock, Americana, cover, alternative, and many other varieties of bands, I got to experiences many ways to view and perform music. I use all this experience to help the artists I work with come up with original approaches to their songs.
Flexibility
I have learned to communicate and work in any way possible to achieve successful results, whether you have little experience or have been a professional for decades. Being a producer, a solo artist, a side man, a private teacher and a session musician, I have surely learned that there is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to creative types.
Experience
Having started my musical journey as an artist and performer myself, I understand YOUR perspective in creating songs. Playing various instruments in a broad array of styles and being passionate about the recording arts/production for decades has just given me a lot of ‘ammunition’ to help YOU find YOUR voice and realize the potential in YOUR songs.
Since my first time in a studio, mixing has been one of my favorite parts of the production process. I have spent the last 4 decades learning, experimenting, creating new processes, and generally obsessing over making the best mixes possible—mixes that compete with or exceed the quality of any mixes available at any price. Aside from mixing my own productions, I do a lot of mixes for people who have tracked themselves at home, or have tracked in a recording studio. Just send me files and I can give you mixes you will love—mixes that help your already great music sound even better than you thought it could. As with my production, it doesn’t matter where in the world you are—the ability to easily share files has made the music production world very expansive!
I can master your final mixes too. You’ll need to have your songs mastered if you’re releasing them either digitally or vinyl/cd. Mastering is the final step in producing a song or album. Mastering raises the overall level/volume of songs to compete in the commercial market along side other music so it doesn’t disappear next to songs that have been mastered to current standards.
Mastering for vinyl or streaming releases have different needs. Mastering addresses any overall adjustments that may be needed with EQ and compression etc. In the case of an album, mastering also makes sure the songs sound uniform in volume and tonality. A mastered song is then ready for radio, video or film/tv placement.
Sometimes you just need a little help—someone you can ask questions of regarding your own specific situation or problem. I can help you solve problems without losing your hair! If you have questions about a song/arrangement, your home studio set up, what gear would be good for you, how to mic up an instrument, how to treat your room or find a location in your home that will work for recording, working with Pro Tools, concepts for performance when recording, working with virtual instruments, or any number of things that can seem daunting to an artist who is self-producing or recording. I’m just a Zoom, Facetime, email, or phone call away!
All genres of orchestration can be achieved. Acoustic or electric guitar parts and solos and bass guitar are my speciality. I can write horn parts – solo or a full horn section in a multitude of styles. I can write and create string /orchestral parts. I also have a vast library of sounds to add cool modern textures to your songs.
I play a lot of instruments, and can create a lot of musical parts, but even if I can’t play it or create it myself, I have a good list of musicians I can call on here in Nashville and in the Bay Area to fill in the needed spaces and provide the right textures for your songs.

Production Costs
I do unique and specialized production so all pricing depends on the needs of the Artist and the song. We would discuss budget and any concerns before we start. Production, Orchestration, Instrumentation & Mixing is $65 per hour. I charge hourly rather than per song because productions and needs vary so much according to artist and style.
Consulting
Production, Mixing & Recording (via Phone/Zoom etc or in person if available) is $125 per hour.
Session Instrumentation
Saxophone, Guitars, Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Midi, Drums, Horns, Violin/Fiddle etc are charged at $65 per hour — prices for average parts usually end up in the $150 range, but simple things can be less and obviously something like a full string or horn arrangement will cost more. Some outside session musicians I sometimes use can charge more depending but we can discuss that before work begins.
Mastering
Costs are material dependent but generally $75 per song.
