“Kenny had the patience and vision to work with me on my ideas, Kenny has master skills”
“Basement3Productions is a one stop shop for arranging, instrumentation/ backup vocals, recording, mixing, and distribution assistance. They provided guidance all along the way not to mention Kenny’s master skills on so many instruments. In addition, Kenny had the patience and vision to work with me on my ideas on my songs which touched many genres.
I never would have envisioned working with such a great partner on my first album!”

“I was able to find my sound, you are a genius”
“Music has always been a passion of mine spending countless hours playing the piano, singing to songs on the radio and creating melodies to my own songs.
I spent many years searching for the sound that I wanted the world to hear and thankfully with Kenny’s experience with countless genres of music and patient demeanor I was able to find my sound. Kenny’s recording studio compiled of elite recording equipment and comfortable atmosphere certainly added to our ability to create the high level quality sound I was looking for.”

“He finds the soul of the song”
“Kenny is exactly what I needed. I am a lyricist with a good ear for melody and a decent grasp of chording, but I do not yet have a producer’s ear that can hear what else the song needs. Kenny has a startling ability to reach into a simple demo and draw out what the song was always doing, but had not yet come to be. It’s as if he uncorks each song, and pours it out so I can finally see and taste it fully.
Kenny’s sketches remind me of the soul of the song, which I often forget when I’ve practiced it a hundred times. When recording time comes, he is a pro. He has all the gear, all of the technical know-how, a strong knowledge of many genres, an excellent ear, and very good taste. He knows his stuff cold. He’s also an incredible musician, and plays many instruments extremely well, so he ends up being a one-stop shop for studio work. On top of all that, he’s as easy-going as they come, and does everything he can to make me feel at home and comfortable. At the same time, he is a stickler for detail, and strives for excellence.
I sing and play my best when I’m working with him, and he helps to bring my work to a level that matches the standard he seeks. Working with Kenny has made me a better musician, and has made me fall in love again with my music, my vision, and myvoice. I can’t ask for more than that.”

“Kenny is so awesome to work with! He’s gentle, kind, helpful and supportive..”
“I’m so interested in hearing what you’ll come up with and because you usually surprise me. In a good way. And this time’s no different! Great work. Super interesting and it’s not really what I expected but that’s why I trust you inherently… great work”
“Kenny is so awesome to work with! He’s gentle, kind, helpful and supportive. He’s a great musician, singer, and producer and has a ton of creativity and interesting ideas. He can take general ideas I have and run with them. He gets what I mean even if I can’t clearly articulate it – we speak the same language. I think of him as my John, Paul, George, Ringo AND George Martin all rolled into one person! He’s really that talented. No seriously. I can’t say enough about how grateful I am to have found him to help me make music!”

“Kenny makes remote totally doable!”
” Kenny Schick makes remote totally doable. Trust me I know. Not just his production expertise, his ear and his own musical abilities and experience, his kind mentorship and his network of like minded beings that bring it all together are amazing.
Over the the continents, over the oceans Kenny & Sabine are the best waypoints on a songwriting journey.”
Singer Songwriter / Artist / Teacher / Ballet Accompanist / Composer
“He'll make you sound amazing!”
“Kenny and Sabine are exactly the type of people you want to trust with your music. First, Kenny knows his way around recording equipment. He’ll make you sound amazing, and there’s a lot of flexibility depending on the sound you want. Secondly, they create a wonderful environment that makes you comfortable and inspired and relaxed so you can focus on creating great music. On top of it all, they’re badass musicians themselves.
You need guitar or background vocals or a bass line? Done. You need a quality album cover? Done. With years of experience and a list of satisfied clients a mile long, Basement3 Productions is who you’re looking for.”
“I’m very much an amateur, a guy with a full time job who just happens to love making music in the folk singer/songwriter vein. I bring in my fairly simple songs, mediocre guitar work and a voice that is, well, er, sometimes challenged.
Kenny has been a great mentor for me, coaching me in his easy, friendly way with professional-level tips and techniques for guitar, voice, recording and more.
It can get pretty personal trying to get a clean take of a song you have an emotional attachment to. Kenny’s great sense of humor and empathy has helped smooth over a lot of rocky moments.
When it comes to the final product, I am always pleased and frequently amazed. What Kenny does to smooth out the many quirks of my singing is the equivalent of audio Photoshop-ing by someone with a fine ear and skills for knowing how to shape a sound wave. He routinely brings fresh ideas for how to add rhythm and instrumentation to my songs, creating a virtual band that typically is Kenny on bass, electric guitar and sax.
His solos are the icing on the cake. Typically I just say, “I’d like a sax or electric guitar solo here” and he comes back with riffs that knock my socks off. His solos often become the favorite parts of the recordings.
One more thing. Even though I am an amateur, I have my opinions from time to time about a cello here, an oboe there, a line that should be a little softer or rougher. Kenny consistently listens and routinely gives me space to provide frank feedback. As he told me early on, his goal is to make sure I am happy with the final product. I am. And difficult as it is sometimes, I like the process, too. I feel I am growing. Thanks, Kenny!”

“my song 'DISAPPEAR' was featured on DANCE MOMS (tv show) and performed by Maddie Ziegler!"
“Basement3Productions helped guide me as a young artist by working faithfully to my vision of my album while also providing inspired, creative input. The work they did for both my album artwork and music was affordable and high-quality enough to be featured on multiple tv shows. I doubt I could have found a more professional and friendly team.”
“Basement3Productions has been a lifesaver in getting my project completed in a way that exceeded all my expectations from the partnership to the pro results. It’s served as an education for me on how to run a business, tailor the customer experience and deliver just the right assistance.
I found Basement3 to be intuitive and quickly gain an understanding of what I was looking for on all aspects of my project. This set ran the gamut from nearly completed songs that just needed a proper engineer to record and get the right performance all the way through producing and collaborating.
They delivered many truly memorable contributions while making the experience both relaxed and energizing. With B3P stellar multi-instrumental capabilities and access to a stable of additional musicians for hire you really are able to get an amazing result. Also within their portfolio they had the ability to help me with my concept, advice about self promotion, develop the artwork and delivered an outstanding website.”

“We charted on Billboard!"
“Kenny Schick produced my first (and so far only) album to chart on the Billboard charts. That right there should be enough of a ringing endorsement to convince potential clients, but I will continue. Kenny has produced 4 albums so far for me. He not only produced, but mixed and mastered them, as well as playing instruments as varied as guitar, piano, organ, flute, and alto, tenor and baritone sax, as well as programing realistic drums and singing killer BGVs. He’s a one-man band. Some of these songs started with a simple iPhone memo I recorded on my phone with my acoustic guitar, and Kenny took those and produced an entire backing track. And, if you need quick turnaround, Kenny can turn things around very quickly without sacrificing quality (assuming he’s not tied up with other projects). So, I highly recommend Kenny Schick as a producer, engineer and musician.”

“I can't believe how lucky I am to have had Kenny produce this album!”
“I really can’t begin to express how happy I am with ‘Most of Time’! From the start to the very finish the process with you was shear joy. Having finished, I treasure our time even more now, and I look forward to the next project. I must tell Angy every week or so, “I can’t believe how lucky I am, to have had Kenny produce this album.” Slowly, one by one, people are listening, enjoying and getting hooked on the music we made together. You really did a spectacular job in every way! Here’s to you, Kenny Schick! Cheers to a job well done!
EG Phillips – Review – Nenesbutler
It’s not the classic opener of a new EP—more like a profound travel diary set to music. The melancholic tango beat draws you in, while the lyrics transport you from the Andes to Okinawa. But this isn’t just about wanderlust—the places are a reflection of an inner search for identity, healing, and emotional clarity. Between Gilgamesh and Siddhartha, it becomes epic, almost mythical. And then the final verse hits hard: sudden emotional emptiness, alienation, the feeling of being overlooked. The music becomes an escape, a self-rescue. For anyone who loves storytelling, atmosphere, and that bittersweet mix of adventure and heartbreak—this is your soundtrack.
From Passion to Reflection:
“Her Love’s So Hard”
by E.G. Phillips
All contribute with remarkable finesse, demonstrating that true skill lies in the art of nuance. This allows an already masterfully crafted song to gain additional emotional depth and resonance, integrating seamlessly into the work.
A melancholic yet romantic violin, masterfully played by Amberly Rosen and floating like a musical bridge in the gardens of poetry, accompanies E.G. Phillips on a musical path that has diverged from his previous release. “Her Love’s So Hard” retains the same concise depth but is presented in an entirely new guise that is both original and profound.
It portrays a woman whose love is a source of intense devotion and emotional exhaustion. Her relationship serves as an illusory anchor, providing the semblance of support even in the absence of reciprocity and ultimately revealing itself to be misguided. She is driven by a blend of passion and heart, unable to clearly distinguish which of these forces propels her. Duty and habit obscure her inner doubts. Despite her deep love, the connection remains fragile as her feelings are not returned. This dance she continues, against her better judgement, illustrates the painful ambivalence and profound complexity of unrequited love and emotional dependency.
Martha Groves Perry – Call Out – Grooves & Cuts
"The bolder-than-usual songs explore challenging truths seriously & with humor." "The music suits her tone as well, dark & melodic, with sufficiently varied styles." "...has style with her dark-hued melodies that are tailored with grace." "Mystical in sound, upbeat in showcase, with a multitude of instrumental sounds."
Exceptional photography makes the look of Martha’s 3rd release Call Out (Drops April 21-MapleDream Music) appear quite noirish & compelling. The bolder-than-usual songs explore challenging truths seriously & with humor. Her lyrics are poetic & the 12 songs that make up this new release were recorded by producer Kenny Schick for Basement3Productions.
San Francisco-based Martha Groves Perry’s vocals are a disciplined departure from typical mainstream vocals. The music suits her tone as well, dark & melodic, with sufficiently varied styles. “Anyway,” has a Robert Fripp-type lead guitar coiling its notes throughout. Though the song lyrics are fairly simplistic Martha vocalizes with a pinch of deviancy in her aura which allows them to be appealing in a naughty way.
There are moments when Martha grazes the delicacy of expression often provided by the likes of Tom Waits, early Ricki Lee Jones, Tom Wilson (Junkhouse) & Patti Smith. Martha Groves Perry has style with her dark-hued melodies that are tailored with grace.
She doesn’t sing with aggression but has authority on “The Dare,” — a rockier showcase where her Blondie cum Patti Smith by way of Natalie Merchant surfaces. Nice work. Exciting. At times there’s even a polished Grace Slick identity in the tunes. From the era when Slick recorded wonderful solo tunes (her 1980 “Dreams,” LP). “Feel Something,” would be an example. Mystical in sound, upbeat in showcase, with a multitude of instrumental sounds. It continues with “Purely Who You Are,” Slick-like in her childish voice with sensitive percussion. It’s all exceptionally rendered by Martha who effectively sings with a noirish feel & brief muted trumpet.
“The Talk,” is another noirish superb track because it has lovely passages along with grating razor-sharp twists. The contrasts between the songs are riveting & Martha’s cohesive performance is solid.
A shorter song “Four Leaf Clover,” could be considered strange but it’s saucy, contemporary & well-arranged & let out of its cage with musician zeal. The late 60s icon Leslie Gore could’ve covered this.
In “Dumping My Delusion,” Ms. Perry gives us a vocal lesson. Her tone, intonation, phrasings & how she applies her inimitable style is like salty potato chips & dark chocolate. From dark music to riveting in the 57-voice chorus in “McKiely’s Song,” shows the ability of Ms. Perry’s voice to tread through as a pristine ballad singer, traditional interpreter & jazz singer. Impressive.
Musicians – Martha (vocals/cello/acoustic guitar/backing vocals), Kenny (all other instruments & backing vocals) with additional backing vocals by Sabine Heusler-Schick.
Highlights – “Anyway,” “The Dare,” “Let The Wind Come,” Feel Something,” “Purely Who You Are,” “The Talk,” “Four Leaf Clover,” “Dumping My Delusion,” “McKiely’s Song” & “Little Life.”
I’d have expected an equally interesting insert with lyrics but not this time. Images in CD package by Kenny plus 1 vintage pic dahlia photo by Martha.
PREMIERE | Y. Dan Rubinstein Releases Seductive ‘Farewell, Farewell Adieu’
... a gorgeous song, full of creamy quixotic flavors, and velvety vocals...
San Francisco’s folk/jazz/rock singer-songwriter Y. Dan Rubinstein introduces his new single/music video today on CelebMix.
Rubinstein’s genesis as a musician began as a child, playing piano and guitar. Later, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, touching down in the midst of Silicon Valley, where he became a serial entrepreneur.
With music put on the back burner, it wasn’t until he attended one of his children’s violin lessons that the dormant music bug awakened. His original intention was to study the violin alongside his child. Instead, he developed his skill on the guitar. He began writing songs almost by happenstance, when an email he was composing metamorphosed into lyrics, followed by a melody.
According to Rubinstein, “It was such an energizing experience! I wrote a few more poems and set them to music and started going to weekly songwriting workshops and song circles.”
Rubinstein has performed at West Coast Songwriters and the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival, as well as in the Bay Area. Influenced by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, and Sting, Rubinstein is preparing to drop a new album, Stolen Moments, a collection of acoustic pop songs.
“Farewell, Farewell Adieu” opens on cool sensuous colors flowing into a Latin-flavored folk-pop tune riding a sumptuously sleek rhythm rife with a rounded bassline and delicious percussion. The melody is reminiscent of Ravel’s “Bolero” amalgamated with lush pop flair, infusing the tune with tantalizing wisps of recollection.
Rubinstein’s voice, a rich tenor, glides on silky tones over the harmonics. It’s a gentle, tender voice full of smooth clean textures and warm surface savors.
“He thought he loved you / He really needed you / Oh what could have been / Farewell, farewell, adieu.”
The video, set in Europe, depicts the allure of passionate love, showing lovers enjoying each other’s company. The lyrics paint a picture of love lost, yet fondly remembered.
With “Farewell, Farewell Adieu,” Y. Dan Rubinstein delivers a gorgeous song, full of creamy quixotic flavors, and velvety vocals.
